IB staffer freed after arrest on suspicion

ISLAMABAD—On December 5, 2006 at 0930 hours, Naib Qasid Tufail of the IB Provincial Headquarters NWFP Peshawar was detained by the Police on duty near Frontier House, Peshawar for throwing rubbish into a gutter running close to the Frontier House (next to the Advisor’s Gate) and opposite the main gate of the IB NWFP PHQ.
According to a press release issued by the Intelligence Bureau, the Naib Qasid whilst cleaning the office of Assistant Director (CI) found a piece of dynamite and not recognizing it, as such, and thinking that it was some food stuff having gone bad/stale, picked it up to dispose of the same along with other rubbish.
The police officials in whose presence he was throwing the rubbish into a gutter about 10/12 feet in the depth detained him and sent him to the local police station. An officer of the IB went to the Police Station East Cantt Peshawar, to find out the facts and found out from the Police Station staff that the situation was of innocent nature and the Naib Qasid was found sitting outside the lock-up in a compound.—APP
