TomKat’s country cottage
From Sara Hall

NEW YORK—Is Tom Cruise’s devotion to Scientology dictating his real-estate investments? Katie Holmes’ grin-happy new hubby has acquired a $4.75 million “cottage” in West Sussex, England, just an e-meter’s throw from the U.K. headquarters of the L. Ron Hubbard-founded church, report both the London Daily Mail and Us Weekly.
The six-bedroom pad reportedly comes with amenities such as an indoor swimming pool, a “state-of-the-art” greenhouse, game room, underground garage and a high-tech security system, perfect for the protection-minded Cruise.
According to the Daily Mail, the puffed-up actor decided to pick up the property after being “inspired” by church muckety-muck David Miscavige, who served as the best man at TomKat’s Scientology-themed, Italian castle-set “I do’s” on Nov. 18.
Cruise’s rep, however, tells the paper he’s “not aware of the purchase” of the multimillion-dollar estate, which would join his rented compound in Beverly Hills and sprawling spread in Telluride, Colo.
Speaking of Miscavige, In Touch and OK! are convinced he tagged along on the newlyweds’ bad weather-plagued honeymoon, which they took in the Maldives — with 7-month-old Suri in tow — on board a massive yacht owned by Tom’s moneybags Australian pal, James Packer.
Star, however, says Miscavige made himself scarce after the wedding, with a harried church rep insisting, “This is so stupid. I don’t know how many times I have to say it: It is absolutely 100 percent not true. Mr. Miscavige was not there.”
