Rs180m to be spent on repair of faulty water pipelines

RAWALPINDI—The district government taking measures to resolve the problem of contaminated water being supplied to the citizens through rusty pipelines has chalked out a plan worth Rs. 180 million.
A PC-1 in this connection has been prepared and about 120 kilometers long pipelines would be repaired, said a source in Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa). The government of Punjab would provide special grant for the project.
The source said that about 60 percent leaked pipelines would be repaired under the project and the problem of contaminated water be resolved. The district government would invite tenders soon after receiving funds from the Punjab government and repair work on the pipelines would be initiated. The citizens of the Rawalpindi would take a sigh of relief with the repair of the faulty pipelines.—Online
