WPB to control crimes against women: Fozia

ISLAMABAD—Women Protection Bill (WPB) which has now become an Act, will control crimes being made against females in the country and they will feel more secured and protected.
This was stated by Senator, Fozia Fakhuruzaman Khan on Monday. Talking to PTV she said, “We facilitate to the present government on successful approval of WPB. She said, in previous 59 years no government took serious steps to mitigate problems of women of the country, but the government took a number of steps for the empowerment of thewomen. She said, this law will control and minimize miseriesespecially confronted to poor women in the country. To a question she said, keeping in view, prevailing situation and circumstances, new laws should be formulated and existing laws should be amended or changed. She further said, Women Protection Bill (WPB) wasdeliberated largely and all segments of the society were involved in the process. No bill was discussed like this in the history ofthe country. Fozia Fakhuruzaman said, poor and uneducated women were facing a lot of problems regarding their protection and basic rights.—APP
