J.Lo’s ex-husband fights to release tell-all book
Showbiz Desk
LOS ANGELES—The ex-husband of Jennifer Lopez has decided to fight the
star’s efforts to stop him from printing a tell-all book after all,
despite agreeing in June not to reveal intimate details about her.
Ojani Noa, 31, told a Los Angeles judge Friday he wanted to reverse the
June 30 preliminary injunction that bars him from “criticizing,
denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging or
causing disparagement to plaintiff.” “I didn’t agree to it,” Noa said on
Saturday, adding that he regretted going along with his lawyer’s legal
advice and blamed his misunderstanding on his limited English skills.
Lopez sued Noa in April, claiming he demanded five million dollars to
keep him from publishing the book.
“I want to fight this thing to the end,” Noa told the judge. “My life
has not been the same since this lawsuit was filed.”
The judge, Victor Person, gave Noa until January 17 to find a new
attorney or represent himself. Noa met Lopez when he was working as a
waiter in a Miami restaurant. They were married in 1997 but divorced 11
months later. In her lawsuit, Lopez accused Noa of “wrongfully
attempting to exploit his prior relationship with (Lopez) by making
salacious, inflammatory, invasive, disparaging statements.”
