PML wins Khanewal bye-polls

KHANEWAL—PML candidate Mahr Imran Pervaiz Dhool won the bye-elections for MPA seat in PP-214 constituency of Khanewal district, according to unofficial result.
Imran Pervaiz got 27565 votes while independent candidate Nishat Ahmad Khan Daha secured 15064 votes. Other candidates included: PML-N Suhail Sikandar Daha (8535 votes), PPPP’s Javed Hashmi (2713 votes), and independent candidate Raja Taj (201 votes).
Vote turn out was recorded at 34.84 per cent while 709 votes were rejected out of 54787 total votes cast. Imran Pervaiz Dhool won the election by a margin of 12501 votes, according to unofficial result.
Bye-elections were held in PP-214 constituency after itsseat was left vacant by MPA Zahoor Ahmad Khan Daha who had died in a car accident near Renala Khurd few months ago.
Imran Pervaiz said that victory in the election was a testimony to the fact that people have confidence in the policies of the incumbent government.—Agencies
