Assemblies will complete tenure, says Premier

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that the general elections will be held in the country on schedule and the Parliament will complete its tenure for the first time in its history. He said the PML and its allied parties are working for strengthening democratic institutions in the country.
The Prime Minister was talking to Omer Ayub Khan, Minister of State for Finance, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, MNA, and Sardar Tufail Ahmad, MNA, who called on him at the PM’s House Sunday. The Prime Minister said that the PML and its allied parties will contest the general elections on the basis of their performance in office during which the country has seen unprecedented economic development and rare political stability.
The Prime Minister said that the benefits of economic development have started to reach the people and that they will again vote the PML and its allied parties into power for the continued progress and development of the country.
The MNAs updated the Prime Minister about development schemes in their respective constituencies and said that their completion of development programmes will improve the socio-economic conditions of the people. They also discussed the general political situation and party matters with the Prime Minister. They also congratulated the Prime Minister on the passage of the Women Protection Bill and lauded the government’s resolve to bring in more legislation to provide more security to women as enjoined by our faith.
The Prime Minister said that additional legislation has already been introduced in the National Assembly to protect the rights of women in keeping with the tenets of our faith and to ensure their full anticipation in the life of the nation.
APP Adds: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday said that the government will allocate additional funds for the provision of electricity, roads, gas, clean drinking water, better education and health facilities to improve the living standard of common man.
The Prime Minister was talking to District Nazim Attock Maj.(Retd) Tahir Sadiq who called on him this afternoon at the PM’s House. The Prime Minister said that the main focus of our economic policies is to improve the lot of the common man. He said that the Khushal Pakistan Programme initiated to provide civic amenities has started to bring about a visible improvement in the life of the common man. The Prime Minister inquired about the various ongoing development schemes initiated in Attock.
He emphasized the need for their timely completion so that the benefits of development start reaching the grass roots level. The Prime Minister said that funds for establishing a modern and well- equipped trauma centre in Attock will be provided by the government. He said the trauma centre will provide prompt relief in emergency situations for the people of Attock and the adjoining areas.
