‘Private sector role important in industrial development’

ISLAMABAD—The current government is giving much importance to the private sector in industrial development, said Governor Punjab Lt. Gen. Khalid Maqbool.
He said this while talking to a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) who called on him here on Sunday.
Khalid Maqbool said that the current government was providing facilities to industrialists and investors for the industrial development in the country. That is why, he said, the GDP rate was over seven percent, which was more than the regional countries. He said that investment in oil and banking has increased due to the policies of the government.
He said the prices of petroleum and gas directly affect industrial development. “The government is taking measures to reduce POL prices,” he added.
He directed the ICCI delegation to start work on establishing industrial state near sector I-17.
