JUI to decide resignations on 4th

DERA ISMAIL KHAN—Opposition leader in the National Assembly and MMA secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that a meeting of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam would be held on December 4 to consider resignation from the parliament against the Women Protection Bill (WPB).
He said that we would ponder whether the MMA resignation may not benefit the dictatorship and harm democracy. Maulana Fazl said this talking to Dera Press Club reporters at Circuit House here on Saturday. Chief Minister NWFP, Akram Khan Durrani was also present on the occasion.
He said the decision of the central council of JUI (F) would be presented before MMA parliamentary party.
Fazlur Rahman alleged that the military leadership was carrying the country to secularism and President Musharraf was violating the constitution of Pakistan by supporting America and western countries. He said that President Musharraf had drawn line between enlightened moderate and religious people and we accept it as a challenge. “We will not let the 140 million people of Pakistan to become secular,” he added.
About the Council of Islamic Ideology, he said, none of the sects of any country has confidence in the CII. He said the MMA does not accept any decision or verdict of such council. He demanded appointed of the ulema in the CII who would be trustworthy for the nation.—Online
