Lahore—Speaker National Assembly Ch Amir Hussain has said that
construction of Kala Bagh dam is in the best interest of public and
country and it should be debated on the assembly forum for gaining
national consensus.
He expressed these views while addressing to the 70th Annual gathering
of Pakistan Engineering Congress .
Speaking on the occasion he said that it is every one’s right in
democratic country that if there is contradiction of opinions on
National issues it can be solve through amendments and if any objection
on the Women Protection Bill is found which is in negation to the Quran
and Sunnah than it can be amended . He said that this bill has been
supported by Scholars of high caliber, public and political parties . He
urged that MMA should consult Federal Shariat court, Supreme court and
National Assembly for the amendments in this bill. He said that the way
of protests against the government by MMA is not the right option and
government will adopt the constitutional way in case of any objection on
Hasba Bill.
About Chaudhry Shujaat, resignation he said that it has been returned to
him. Speaker said on the occasion that government ‘s time is going to be
complete on 15th November 2007 and it would complete its tenure. He
further said that regarding Kala Bagh dam he is satisfied with engineers
suggestions and opinions and that should be constructed immediately.
President PEC Rana Saeed Ahmad Khan demanded for the enhancement of
funds for the construction of Kala Bagh dam. Gathering was also
addressed by Wise President PEC Chaudhry Rasheed Khan, Sec trey General
Syed Mansoob Ali Zaidi and prominent engineer Hussnain Ahmad.
State Minister for Information, Senator Tariq
Azeem has said that construction of Kala Bagh Dam is in favor of
Pakistan as it needs huge energy resources due to growth of the economy.
He said that Pakistan was losing huge quantity of water due to shortage
of water reservoirs adding all dams including Kala Bagh Dam would be
constructed by 2015. He urged that MMA should consult Federal Shariat
court, Supreme court and National Assembly for the amendments in this
bill. He said that the way of protests against the government by MMA is
not the right option and government will adopt the constitutional way in
case of any objection on Hasba Bill.
He was talking to newsmen here on Saturday at curtain raising ceremony
of Muslim Big Business and Investment Gala 2007 commencing from February
10 at Expo center Karachi.
To a query about women protection bill, he said that it was totally
Islamic and nothing was against the teachings of Islam in it. Opposition
should approach the court if they had any reservations, he said. |
