One killed in Peshawar blast

PESHAWAR—The blast in which a local person was killed on Friday evening was not a suicide attack and the casualty occurred as a result of explosive material planted in a motorbike went off here at Defense Market on Khyber Road, SSP Operation Iftikhar Khan said.
“The name of the deceased is Zahoor son of Amin Khan and belonged to Chagar Mati Peshawar”, the senior police official told APP. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim may be standing near the motorbike which was also badly damaged, he added. Earlier, IG Police NWFP Muhammad Riffat Pasha told reporters at the site of the blast that it is premature to suggest the deceased’s intentions that whether he was a suicide bomber or not. The police official said it was a low intensity explosion, adding that it is too early to say whether the deceased was attemptong of suicide attack or fell prey to it. The IG said the victim’s body badly damaged. The age of the deceased may be about 19 or 20, he said when asked. The law enforcing agencies and police rushed to the site and cordoned off the area.—APP
