Army Services Corps, PAF Blues enter into CAS Polo Cup final

PESHAWAR—Army Services Corps and PAF Blues reached to clash in the final of the Chief of the Air Staff Challenge Cup Polo being played here at Peshawar Polo ground on Thursday.
The final of the CAS Challenge Cup Polo, one the prestigious event of the Pakistan Polo Federation (PPF) calendar will be played on December 2, 2005 at 4.00 p.m. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmed will grace the occasion as guest of honor, organizing secretary Major Munawar told APP.
All arrangements have been made and the final will be a thrilling battle between both ASC and PAF Blues consisting on prominent polo players. The tournament, he said, a great opportunity for the Peshawarites to see top polo playrs in action. It is really encouraging that each match attracted great game spectators, he added.
“We want that people should come and enjoyed the thrill of the game beside encouraging the youngsters to have a due role in playing and participating in game of polo,” he said. Earlier, the match between ASC and PAF Blues provided great thrilling and excitement for the sitting capacity crowd because both teams were consisting on top polo players.
Major Touseef opened the account by scoring a beautiful goal from the narrow range before exhibiting excellent horse riding and ball control. Major Raja Tufail followed Touseef with his long drive goal in the first Chakkar.
ASC was leading buy two-nil in the very outset of the match but this was Captain ® Shoukat Malik who reduced the margin with his perfect forceful drive. Captain (R) Shoukat Malik, the lead scorer of the tournament so far, scored two more goals in the second Chakkar to make it 2-3.
After going into a goal deficit, Major Umar Minhas came back strong with his rallies of goals to turn the whole complexion of the match. Minhas scored five consecutive goals in the to make it 7-3 in the second and third Chakkar while for PAF Blues, a team lost it all, Flt. Lt. Fahad Aziz reduced the margin when he scored in the last Chakkar.—Online
