Violaters of court orders to be dealt in accordance with law: SC

ISLAMABAD—A three-member bench of the Supreme Court Wednesday directed concerned authorities to initiate contempt proceedings and inquiry against the suspended
Superintendent of New Central Jail Multan, Ziaullah Malik and other police officials who were responsible for violating judgement of the Supreme Court and negligence in investigation of the case. The bench of the Apex Court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad passed these orders while taking up case of an accused of murder case, Sardar Ali who was not released from jail even after the orders of the Apex Court.
Violaters of court orders will be dealt in accordance with law, the bench said. According to reports prepared by the Home Secretary Punjab and the inquiry committee headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Zafar Ahmed Qureshi, Sardar Ali was not released is a clear violation of Supreme Court orders and he was murdered in thejail’s premises due to torture and poison.
The Bench also directed Health Secretary Punjab to initiate inquiry against responsible medical officers and staff for destroying medical samples of the body of Sardar Ali. The bench directed Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police and Health Secretary Punjab to deal the said matter in accordance with law send all the inquiry reports to the office of Registrar of the Supreme Court for further perusal and orders if needful.
The bench directed the Home Secretary to initiate the inquiry through entirely independent officer not lower than BPS-19 beside initiating separate contempt of court orders. According to report, Sardar Ali who was punished in a murder case died in Multan jail even after having release orders by the Supreme Court which is not only violation of laws also violation of the orders of the Apex Court. The bench also directed the Police to take action againstpolice officers who committed negligence during the registration to investigation and discharge of the FIR in the said case.—APP
