Lakme fashion attracts Bollywood

BOMBAY—The cloudburst of model-turned-actors in Bollywood has garnered colossal interest of the film fraternity in the fashion world. Lakme Fashion Week has been one such big occasion where the star galaxy assembled to support, cheer and view their favorite fashion designer clothing. Surily Goel, the new stylish designer in the tinsel town whose collections fascinated pop genre in the recently released ‘Jaan-e-Mann’, showcased her recent collections at Lakme Fashion show. It was a grand show where leading models flashed the collections on the ramp and noted Bollywood celebrities like Sameera Reddy, Fardeen Khan, and Sonali Bendre graced it with their presence.
Rhea Pillai, model and ex-wife of Sanjay Dutt, walked through the ramp with her trendy outfits. John Abraham walked on the ramp wearing Narendra Kumar spring / summer 2007 men’s wear line collections. He wore beautifully printed white linen suit with hand painted strokes. Bipasha Basu cheered him as he was displaying the trendy subtle men’s collection. Nandita Mehtani’s spring/summer collections 2007 was graced by model-turned-actor Dino Morea where models displayed tube dresses, kurtis, minis, jumpsuits, skirts and upbeat comfort wears. Bollywood star favorite designer Vikram Phadnis presented a glittering range of evening wears titled “Blithe Panache” worn by stylish models on the ramp. Stars like Priyanka Chopra, Fardeen Khan, Preeti Jhangiani, Amrita Rao, Celina Jaitley, Sangeeta Bijlani and cricketer Mohammad Azharrudin showed their solidarity and support by cheering for his collections.
Tabu showed her interest and support towards Calcutta based designer duo Dev n Nil for their feminine line of spring/simmer 2007 collections titled “Chocolate”. Bong bombshell Raima Sen unveiled Lakme Fundamentals, a complete skin care collections by the sponsor - “Lakme”. Seema Khan Collections were displayed by hot vivacious model-turned-actress Malaika Arora on the ramp. It was viewed and admired by Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and yesteryear’s dancing sensation Helen. The show featured numerous fashion designers displaying their collections on the ramp. It may be noted that Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ captured everybody’s attention with stars like Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee wearing glossy and trendy Manish Malhotra collections. Bollywood is fast adapting to worldwide changing fashion styles and the stars’ presence has shown their style consciousness.
