approves amends in Family Laws

ISLAMABAD—Federal Cabinet approved Wednesday the amended bill of family
laws. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz presided over the session and said
that MMA would not tender resignations.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri briefed the
session about his visit to India and said that there are manifest
developments in his negotiations with India regarding India, adding that
India is now prepared to talk on Kashmir.
The session mulled over the 13-point agenda. Commenting on the political
situation, Shaukat Aziz said there are self-evident signs from certain
quarters that MMA would not resign from assemblies. He asserted that
Women Protection Bill (WPB) would be implemented in letter and spirit
and steps to ensure this will be taken up with full force.
Briefing about latest development regarding Kashmir issue, Khurshid
Mahmud Kasuri said that India has expressed its willingness to talk on
Kashmir issue. The Cabinet also approved the trade agreement with
Argentine.
The Federal Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz calling the visit of the Chinese President Hu Jintao to
Pakistan historic observed on Wednesday that Pak-China friendship has
entered a new era.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani
said this at a press conference at PID media center after the Federal
Cabinet meeting. Regarding the meeting he maintained that the Cabinet in
its meeting presided by the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz observed that
this historic visit will give further impetus to the friendship with a
friendly country with great love and enthusiasm. The establishment of
China specific investment zone at Lahore shall give great boost to trade
between the two countries, which has been established to promote
economic relations between the two countries.
He maintained that Secretary Riaz Khan and Foreign Minister Khurshid
Kasuri gave a briefing regarding the Pakistan-India process of composite
dialogue. The signing of development cooperation agreement will bring
the two countries further closer by promoting cooperation in development
and economic sector.
The cabinet appreciated the signing of Free Trade Agreement with China.
Under this agreement Pakistan’s trade with China shall increase up to $
15 billions. The cabinet greatly appreciated that the world’s fastest
growing market has been opened for Pakistani exports. The cabinet urged
the Pakistani manufacturers to leverage their full potential to benefit
this opportunity for public benefit, the minister told.
The cabinet was briefed on Pakistan India composite dialogue by the
Foreign Secretary and foreign Ministers. The cabinet was of the view
that Pakistan is a peace loving country and also wants to promote peace
in the region. In response to a question, he said that nuclear
cooperation with China will continue in future. |
