Strategy approved to market tourism potential

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Tourism Nilofar Bakhtiar said Wednesday the government has approved a marketing strategy which pinpoints the targeted countries and tourism product which Pakistan has to sell to the world.
The minister said this during a meeting held in connection with Visit Pakistan Year 2007. Also present were provincial tourism ministers, heads of tourism development corporationsand other government functionaries including Secretary Interior and Chairman CDA.
It was told that the opening ceremony of the mega tourism would be held on December 15.
Nilofar said the number of tourism friendly countries has been increased from 2 to 24 with the cooperation of
all concerned organisations, which she hoped, would boost the tourism traffic towards Pakistan.
The meeting was apprised of the programme of inauguration ceremony wherein a number of foreign tour operators, travel writers, journalists and photographers have been invited, besides foreign as well as local dignitaries.
Later, the provincial ministers and other participants put forward their proposals to hold the tourism promotional events in a better way.
