Bajaur, Dargai probe commission

ISLAMABAD—On the third day of debate on Bajaur and Dargai incidents in
the senate, the opposition has demanded for the formation of a
commission comprised of senate members for investigations of the
incidents.
Participating in the discussion, Allama Sajid Mir said that the no
weapons were recovered from the site after the incident and innocent
students were killed in Bajour bombardment not terrorists. Allama Sajid
Mir said that the United States was involved in the attack just to
sabotage the expected peace agreement between the government and the
tribal elders and Pakistan took the responsibility of the attack.
Commenting on war on terror, Allama Sajid Mir said that Pakistan is
supporting US with out thinking the severe consequences, adding that
terrorism cannot be solved by using force.
Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said that we are not independent to take
important decisions and our policies are made under the pressure of the
United States, adding that nationalists supported former Soviet Union in
Afghan war just to maintain balance in the world.
Expressing his views on Balochistan issue, Abdul Malik said that Gen
Musharraf is the responsible regarding the ongoing military operation in
the province not Pakistan Army, adding that as a close US ally, he is
involved in Bajour operation.
He said that we have supported the Charter of Democracy (CoD) just to
stop the interference of army in politics. Kamran Murtaza of Muttahida
Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) while participating in the discussion has termed the
Bajour bombardment as pre planned and said that the attack is the clear
violation of the constitution. He said that the house besides discussing
the issues should also conduct the inquiry abut the incident.
Professor Khurshid Ahmed while condemning the Bajour and Dargai
incidents expressed his grieve and sorrow over loss of innocent lives
and said that Pakistan’s government is taking the responsibility of the
crimes which were committed by someone else.
Terming the government’s claims that suicide training was being imparted
in Bajour seminary as baseless, Professor Khurshid said that the
bombardment was an attempt to sabotage peace agreement in the area.
Demanding the investigations of the incidents, Professor Khurshid said
that time has come to change our Afghan policy, adding that by
supporting the United States we made our western borders unsecured.
Senator Dr Babar Awan of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPP-P)
while criticizing the Government over dealing the situation said that
the government is failed to adopt a clear stand, adding that we expect
no justice from the government.
Demanding the permission to allow senate committee to go to Bajour, Dr
Babar Awan said that 80 people were killed without given them the right
to defend themselves.
