Govt, MMA bent upon drawing war lines deeper

LAHORE—Minister for parliamentary affairs, Dr Sher Afgan Niazi has warned that NWFP and Balochistan assemblies will be dissolved if MMA does not allow the Women Protection Bill to be implemented therein.
He said this while talking to the journalists on the eve of a seminar held here Sunday titled “Fikar-e-Sufia”. President Musharraf has finally decided not to address the joint sitting of both the houses of parliament, he told. President has powers to take any decision in this regard.
Responding to a question, he said the present assemblies will complete their tenure on November, 16, 2007. Later the interim government will be put in place, he added. He underlined that the present government has fulfilled its agenda based on service, development and prosperity. “ Therefore we hope we will win the next general election”, he added.
To a question on contacts with PPP-P, he said popular governments keep up dialogue process with opposition. As far as any deal with PPP-P is concerned, it stands ruled out ahead of elections, he underscored. On return of Benazir and Nawaz Sharif to home, he said they will never come back.
Responding to a question, he said amended draft of Hudood Ordinance is fully Islamic, constitutional and compatible with Sharia. No clause repugnant to Quran and Sunnah is incorporated in it, he reiterated. Two members from Jamaat-e-Islami and three from Jamiat Ulema Islam were included in government Ulema committee , he indicated.
He dispelled the impression as wrong that WPB will promote obscenity. “ I want to ask up to what extent obscenity was there in the country when this bill did not exist ahead of 1979. Hadd has not been done away with, he added.
To another question, he said MMA had made announcement on their resignations on dozen of occasions. To my view MMA and resignations are two things opposite. It is not necessary that house should be in session when they want to resign, he added. NA speaker is there. MMA can present their resignations to him in NA secretariat. Government is ready to provide every assistance if they face any difficulty on this count , he maintained.
He held if MMA wants to launch any movement against the government, it should start it form NWFP or Balochistan. If I start protest campaign in Lahore, not from Mianwali, it means no one is ready to hear me in Mianwali. Responding to a question, he said presidential election can be held even if the electoral college is incomplete. To another question, he said I am not going to join PML-Q at the behest of some one else. I am doing so on my own. All the patriots will joint
