First Int’l Health Expo-2006 to commence from 29th

ISLAMABAD—A first two-day International “Health Expo 2006” will start
here at Jinnah Convention Centre from November 29 with the theme “Health
and Beyond”.
The expo being organized by the Ministry of Health aims at creating
awareness on health issues among masses besides other objectives, said
an organizer of the event.
According to him, the expo has been divided into different categories
including showcasing of the local and foreign pharma and surgical goods,
industries, medical equipment and accessaries manufactures etc.
Similarly the expo will also highlight the achievements and advances of
medical education and medical services being provided in the country
while the carnival will also be part of this expo.
The carnival has been designed with the primary objective of evoking
greatest interest in the segment of youth population and families.
Awareness will be created among participants on AIDS/HIV and other
diseases and prevention.
He said leading national and international experts in a diversified
health fields will attend the Expo. Delegates from a number of countries
will also participate in special technical sessions to be held on the
sidelines of the Expo.
These eminent speakers will deliver lectures in seminars and workshops
to be held on various issues. Experts will also give free medical
advices to participants on balanced nutrition, skin care and other
diseases.
He said the Expo will provide a platform to participants from various
countries for making free exchange of ideas, knowledge and expertise in
the fields of public health, clinical medicine and pharmaceutical.
The participants will be informed about medical facilities being
provided by the government besides informing quality of surgical and
other medical equipment being manufactured in the country.
He said the Health Expo-2006 will present Pakistan with an unparallel
opportunity to project its booming and growing pharmaceutical sector to
the world and explore prospective markets across the world.
He said invitations for the Expo have been extended to Health Ministers
of countries located in the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the WHO,
stretching from Pakistan in South Asia to Morocco in North Africa
besides ministers from SAARC countries.
Other activities will also be part of Health Expo including a food court
serving health foods, puppet and magic shows, baby contests, hot air
balloon rides, health, beauty and fitness pavilions managed by well
known health clubs and beauticians and musical concerts by country’s top
artists.
Approximately 250 stalls will be set up in the designated areas in and
outside the Convention Centre.
He said through this Expo the country will emerge as a major player in
the region in terms of medi-care services, preventive health-care and
medical research. |
