PM appreciates efforts of Blind Cricket Council

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) in arranging the 3rd Blind Cricket World Cup in Pakistan from December 3, in which all 8 major cricket playing countries’ teams are participating and said that events like these contribute towards popularizing the supports of cricket among the visually impaired of the country.
He was talking to President of PBCC, Agha Shaukat Ali who led a delegation of Organizers of Blind Cricket World Cup that called on him at the Prime Minister’s House Friday afternoon. The Prime Minister also announced Rs. 10 million to arrange the event and asked the organizers to take the private sector on board to sponsor this biggest sporting event of the visually disabled people.
Talking to the delegation the Prime Minister said that it is heartening to note that Pakistani Blind Cricketers team has some of the best Blind cricketers in the World and hoped that by the Grace of Allah, Pakistan would be able to defend its title of World Champion of Blind Cricket in the upcoming World Cup starting from December 3 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The Prime Minister said that the World Cup being organized is a major supporting event and corporate sector should come forward to sponsor the said event as teams from all over the world would participating in the tournament.
Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of PBCC to the mega event and expressed his satisfaction upon arrangements made for hosting of the world cup.
The Prime Minister also agreed to be the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of the blind cricket world cup in Islamabad.
The meeting was also attended by Captain of Pakistan Blind Cricket Mr. Abdul Razzaq other members of the team, organizers of the tournament and other officials.
