Drive against Govt after resignations, says
Qazi
CHAKWAL—Ameer Jammat-e-Islami and President Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA),
Qazi Hussain Ahmed has said a decisive campaign against the government
would start on December 7 when all MMA MNAs would formally submit their
resignations from the National Assembly.
Addressing a press conference here Friday, MMA President said
categorically that there are no differences with Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman
on resignation issue and the decision regarding the resignations from NA
is final. Qazi Hussain Ahmed told that all the prominent and leading
religious scholars termed the Women Protection Bill that was approved
from Parliament was in contradiction to the Quran and Sunnah and General
Pervez Musharraf got this bill passed from the Parliament on the
direction of American and anti Islamic forces.
MMA Leader said that the Parliament and Judiciary was made null and void
and actually martial law was functioning in the country and our basic
purpose was the restoration of democracy and General must go back to the
barracks. He regretted that there was no justice in the judiciary and
one-way traffic from the Military Generals was in progress and there was
no protection of life and property of the people.
Ameer JI said that more than 50 percent population of the country was
living under the poverty line, education, health and two time meals for
common man were made difficult but still the rulers were harping on the
same tune that country was on rapped progress. Qazi Hussain Ahmed
declared that a craven democracy would start on 30th November from
Lahore to Gujrat and people would mobilize for Islamic revolution.
He was confident that all the political parties of the country were
unanimous on the removal of General Pervez Musharraf, revival of 1973
constitution and a powerful Election Commission of Pakistan that would
guarantee free, fair and transparent election in the country. Muttahida
Majlis-e-Amal (MMA)’s leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad has said that had PPP
not stabbed in the back of the opposition, then the government could not
have get the Women Rights Bill passed.
He said that the ‘Charter of Democracy’ has reached to its end and
Benazir Bhutto was responsible for its rupture. Talking to this news
agency on Friday, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad said that it was decided in the
MMA supreme council that as soon as the Women Rights Bill was passed in
the National Assembly, resignations from the assembly would be tendered.
He said that whatever he did was in compliance with the MMApolicies.
When quizzed, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad said that all the opposition parties
had agreed on the formation of a grand alliance in the meeting held at
theresidence of Chaudhry Nisar, but Benazir Bhutto opposed the setting
up of a grand alliance, turning this meeting to a failure. Hafiz Hussain
Ahmad told that he hadn’t received any charge sheet or notice from the
leadership of his party and added, “Eyes were opened in Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam
(JUI) and the funeral will also be taken out from here.”
Responding to another question, he told that MMA would resign from the
National Assembly due to the ideological differences, but the
resignations from the Senate and the provincial assemblies were tied to
the decision of the opposition. MMA has said time has run out for talks
with government adding it will never withdraw its resignations.
This was announced by MMA leadership while addressing a protest
demonstration held here Friday against the passage of Women Protection
Bill (WPB). The rally was led by Hafiz Hussain Ahmad, deputy
parliamentary secretary of the religious grouping. The protesters held
banners and placards inscribed with the slogans “ No to
Faroogh-e-Fahashi bill, amendment in Hudood ordinance, a betrayal with
constitution”. MMA leaders Liaqat Baloch and Mian Aslam also attended
the rally.
Addressing the rally, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad and Liaqat Baloch said MMA has
launched movement against the government on approval of WPB. Rulers have
hurt the sentiments of the people by getting the Obscenity bill passed
from the parliament, they alleged.—Agencies |
