Ashraf Qazi to distribute awards among students, teachers

ISLAMABAD—Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) is holding its 22nd medal and prize distribution ceremony here on Saturday to honour teachers, students and institutions with awards for their annual outstanding performance.
Federal Education Minister Lt Gen (Retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi, as the chief guest, will award medals, certificates, and prizes to meritorious students, diligent and devoted teachers and outstanding result-oriented (heads of) institutions, adjudged best for the year 2006.
Elaborating details, an official said as many as 15 gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze medals alongwith cash awards of Rs.15,000, 10,000 and Rs.7500 will be given to the first three position holders in each group at SSC and HSSC level. He said over all top position holders in SSC and HSSC annual examination 2006 will also be awarded personal computers alongwith cash awards and gold medals.
To recognize the core of excellence in teaching, the best teachers award is being conferred on 20 teachers of affiliated institutions, which includes cash award of Rs.30,000/-each, and certificate of excellence, he added.
The best institution in the academic sphere from the country and abroad excelling at SSC and HSSC levels examination 2006 will be awarded trophies. It is pertinent to mention that Rs 30000 will be awarded to 22 teachers whereas 15 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 10 bronze medals among position holder students.
Despite medals, Rs 15000, Rs 10000 and Rs 7000 will be awarded for first, second and third position respectively. Moreover, computers will also be honored to top position holders.
