Nishan-e-Pakistan conferred on Chinese President

ISLAMABAD—Chinese President Hu Jintao was conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award - Nishan-e-Pakistan on Friday, in recognition of his visionary leadership and for outstanding contributions made to strengthen Pakistan-China relations.
The award was conferred upon by President GeneralPervez Musharraf here at a special investiture ceremony at the Jinnah Convention Centre. The citation referred to the role of President Hu Jintao in promoting the “time-tested friendship between China and Pakistan” that remained constant and has no parallel in the world. Successive generations of leaders and people in both countries value and nourish this relationship, anchored on mutual respect and trust and contributes to peace, stability and progress in the region. “Mr Hu Jintao President of the Peoples Republic of China, Secretary General of the Communist Party and the Chairman Central Military Commission of the People Republic of China has made outstanding contributions in cementing this traditional friendship,” the citation said.—Agencies
