Ex-WAPDA chief declared proclaimed offender

LAHORE—The Accountability Court No.2 here Thursday declared ex-Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) General Zahid Ali (retd) as proclaimed offender for his continues absence in a corruption reference.
NAB filed a reference against Gen. Zahid Ali (retd) regarding illegal assets and mass corruption during holding of office as Chairman WAPDA.
The defendant attorney files an application the other day praying the court to exempt from attendance in the court as he was in abroad-United States. The court rejecting the plea declared the accused a proclaimed offender and adjourned hearing till November 28.
In next phase an application by the prosecution would be filed against Gen. Zahid Ali (retd) praying the court to sentencing him with three year imprisonment on not attending the hearings.
