Jatoi directs PPIB to execute agreements with new power companies

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaqat Ali Jatoi held a meeting with investors of private power projects here Thursday in the office of Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) to review the progress of their new projects.
The minister listed the problems and issues of each individual investors and directed Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, NEPRA and PPIB and to address the problems on fast track basis. Minister also directed PPIB that various agreements with private power companies be executed within a week.
He appreciated the efforts made by various investors in bringing out projects to cater for forthcoming power shortages and much needed investment in power sector.
The minister asked the new IPPs to complete their projects in time so that the government could meet the growing demand of power in future. He assured them that government would extend all possible assistance and support in all respect and said that all bottlenecks would be removed to facilitate them for making for investment in power generation capacity.
Investors thanked Minister for taking keen interest in their problems addressing some of their crucial issues. Investors assured timely completion of the projects.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of Ministry of Water and Power, Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resource, MD,, PPIB and CEOs of future IPPs and senior officials of the Ministry of PPIB, NEPRA and Wapda.
