Inter-College Boys Badminton in final stage

PESHAWAR—Defending Champion Islamia College for Boys Peshawar and Government College Peshawar reached into the final after defeating their respective rival in the semi-final of the Board Inter-College Badminton Championship being played here at Mahabat Khan Gymnasium on Wednesday. Islamia College defeated Government College Matra by 3-0 in the two singles and one doubles events of the best of five sets while Government College Peshawar outclassed Agriculture Public School and College University of Peshawar by 3-2 in the thrilling battle. The first semi-final between Islamia College Peshawar (ICP) and Government College Matra District Charsadda provided no thrill as the former won the match in straight set by 3-0.
Masood Ahmed Shah beat Gulzar Khan by 15-10, 12-15 and 15-13. Both Masood and Gulzar Khan exhibited excellent display of badminton with some forceful over head smashes were also witnessed.
In the second singles Irfan defeated Zulfiqar by 3-0, the score was 15-10, 8-15, 12-15, 15-10 and 15-12 while in the doubles both Jabbar Khan and Irfan defeated Qayyum and Gulzar by 15-12, 15-8 and 15-10. In the second semi-final Government College Peshawar beat Agriculture Public School and College by 3-2. Hasan of Government College was beaten by Asmatullah in straight set. The score was 15-10, 15-11 and 15-12 but Irsalan Khan of Government College beat Hayat Khan of Agriculture School by 3-0, the score was 15-10, 13-15, 15-8 and 15-9 to make it 1-1.
In the doubles Hasan and Imtiaz Khan of Government College beat Asmat and Zafar Ali by 3-0, the score was 15-8, 15-7 and 15-12. After losing the doubles Agriculture against came back by winning the reverse single when Akmal beat Ghulam Murtaza by 3-0, the score was 15-12, 15-10 and 15-10 It was in the last singles when Hasan of Government College beat Asmat by 3-0, the score was 15-10, 15-12 and 15-12 to win the battle by 3-2. Salam Khan and Naveed supervised the matches.
