Asian Games football training camp

LAHORE—National football training camp for the build up of team to take part in 15th Asian Games Soccer event will commence tomorrow, Thursday, at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad.
“The camp will be attended by 33 players with Army and KRL providing 8 and 7 players respectively. Four players of Quetta and WAPDA, three from Wohaib FC and NBP, two from KESC and one from HBL and Navy will be in camp. Most of the players will be those who grabbed the gold in 10th South Asian Games at Colombo last August,” said President,Pakistan Football Federation,Faisal Saleh Hayat here on Wednesday.
Qatar will organize the 15th edition of Asian Games from 28 November 28- December 15 in which Pakistan has been drawn in Round-2 (Group F) with Japan , North Korea and
Turkmenistan PFF will release 13 players from the camp and make list of 20 players and four officials for the coming event.
“The last assignments in 2006 plus 29th Olympic Games Qualifier against Singapore, third AFC President Cup and 7th SAFF Championship in 2007 are serious for us and we are taking all out measures to train our side for attaining desired results. Pakistan U16 and U19 team will also turn up in international arena and we hope to get more talented age-group players for future commitments,” said Faisal who is also Federal Minister for Environment.
He added : “Success in last August’s 10th South Asian Games and win over Kyrgyzstan in April’s AFC Challenge Cup at Dhaka does not mean that everything has been achieved. We have still to go a long way and success should not be taken in a way which could hamper our prospects in the coming events.”
PFF President said more efforts and hard work is needed to further uplift the performance of the national team which has started showing encouraging results after a long gap.
“Our focus should be on eradicating miner mistakes and to prepare the players under a plan to overcome pressure situations in which in the past usually they flattered and such attitude ruined our chances in the important matches”,he asserted.
