Lollobrigida’s wedding moved to Rome
ROME—Gina Lollobrigida’s wedding to her longtime boyfriend has been
postponed until next year, the Italian actress said Monday.
Lollobrigida, 79, will marry Javier Rigau y Rafols, 45, of Barcelona,
Spain, on Jan. 27. The couple, who met at a party in Monte Carlo,
Monaco, have been dating for 22 years.
They were set to wed in New York later this month, but decided to hold
the ceremony in a Rome church “given the interest and the affection of
many European friends, in particular Italian and Spanish ones,” the
couple said in a joint statement.
It will be the second wedding for Lollobrigida, once dubbed “the most
beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her movies. She
was divorced from her previous husband in 1971. Lollobrigida, who
embodied the prototype of Italian beauty, began making movies in Italy
just after the end of World War II. Her screen credits include “The
World’s Most Beautiful Woman,” “Come September,” “Trapeze,” “Bread, Love
and Dreams” and “Never So Few.”—Agencies
