Senate set for stormy session on WP Bill

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and its allied parties in a meeting held here on Tuesday prepared a strategy to pass Women Protection Bill in the Upper House of the Parliament. The meeting of PML Parliamentary Party held under chairmanship of Leader of the House, Waseem Sajjad also decided that the bill will be passed in the present session of the Senate and no pressure will be absorbed in this regard.
The members of Pakistan Muslim League and allied parties attended the meeting. The Senate Opposition has managed to reach a mutual consensus over the Women Protection Bill, and have agreed to remain steadfast about it. The Opposition held a meeting in the Parliament House Committee Room No. 4, convened by leader of the opposition in Senate, Raza Rabbani decided to table the debate over the recent Bajour and Dargai debacles, after which the government would be allowed to offer its views over the Women Protection Bill, which would be preceded by opposition’s remarks.—Online
