Hu Jintao to address Pakistani nation on 24th

ISLAMABAD—Chinese President Hu Jintao will address to the Pakistani nation on Friday around 4 p.m.
According to an official announcement, his address will be broadcast and telecast live from the Convention Centre. It will be a singular distinction for the top-ranking Chinese leader to directly speak to the Pakistani people.
The occasion, being arranged during the State visit of the Chinese President reflects the warmth and depth of Sino-Pak relationship, both at government and the people-to-people levels, which is often projected with popular phrases, such as evergreen, time-tested and `all-weather’.
Earlier, the Chinese leader will hold wide-ranging talks with President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on matters of mutual interest, aimed at further consolidating their existing strategic partnership.
The two sides are also scheduled to sign a number agreements and MoUs, with special focus on economic collaboration. These may include signing of a Free Trade Agreement, a five-year plan of economic cooperation and a bilateral contract for up-gradation of Karakarum Highway.
Meanwhile, hectic preparations are underway in the Federal capital to receive President Hu Jintao here Thursday, making his long-awaited visit a real success, bringing the decades’ old Sino-Pak partnership to a new height.
The high-profile State visit of Chinese President, taking place from November 23 to 26 is likely to carry a strong-worded message to the world community, that the two countries are tied with strong bonds of friendship, having joint stance on many issues of common concern.
Commenting on the forthcoming visit, diplomatic sources said here that Hu Jintao’s talks with President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz this week will be highly significant for reinforcement of their strong commitment to work together as traditional allies in all fields of common interest.
The talks are expected to give a new turn to their bilateral cooperation, laying greater emphasis on their trade and economic ties.
The visit is a continuation of regular consultation and contacts between the two countries at the highest level, the sources added.
According to the sources, all preparations have been completed to extend a rousing welcome to the Chinese friends. It will be a memorable event in the diplomatic history of the two countries.—APP
