Pak-Romania enjoy friendly relations: Jadoon

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Aman-ullah-Khan
Jadoon on Monday said that Pakistan and Romania were enjoying friendly
relations in diversified fields growing with the passage of time adding
that both countries could benefit from each other experience in the
Petroleum sector for brining them closer.
Minister for Petroleum said during his meeting with Vice Prime Minister
of Romania Begdan Paeru who is currently visiting Pakistan as a head of
8-member high powered delegation here and discussed with him matter
pertaining to promoting Pak-Romania cooperation in the oil and gas
mineral sector. Federal Minister recalled the Romanian cooperation in
setting up National oil refinery in Karachi in late 60s.
He said that there existed a lot of opportunities for the Romanian
companies to participate in the upcoming projects which include
getting-up export-based oil refinery, import of LNG and LPG projects
besides oil and gas activities in the country.
He said that Pakistan has vast 6,27,000 sq/km unexplored sedimentary
areas and the government was taking concrete steps to exploit the
un-tapped hydrocarbon resources for meeting the growing energy need.
Jadoon said that government was also making concreted efforts to utilize
the unexplored 185 billion tons coal reserves in the country for
generating 20,000 MW by 2017 aimed at to increase the coal share in the
energy mix upto 50 percent . he also invited the Romanian investors to
participate in the metallic and non-metallic mineral projects for mutual
advantage.
The Vice Primer of Romania said that his visit to Pakistan would help
identify the areas of cooperation in diversified fields including oil,
gas and mineral between the two countries.
He evinced keen interest in the upcoming oil and gas projects and
incentives being offered to the investors in setting up oil refinery and
LNG projects.
He informed that an expert level delegation from Romania will visit
Pakistan next year to explore possibilities of interaction with their
counterparts in the oil, gas and mineral sectors.

Mengal, Secretary Petroleum Ahmad Waqar, JS Jehangir Khan, DGs of HDIP
Gas, Minerals besides of the Ministry were also present during the
meeting.
Meanwhile, Vice Prime Minister of Romania, Bogdan Pascu called on
Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon here
on Monday and discussed with him matters pertaining to promoting Pak-
Romanian cooperation in the oil, gas and mineral sector.
Welcoming the Romanian dignitaries, the Minister said that Pakistan and
Romania enjoy excellent friendly relations in diversified fields growing
with the passage of time.
