Greater technical, economic collaboration with Romania to
consolidate ties: Soomro

ISLAMABAD—Chairman Senate, Mr. Mohammadmian Soomro has called for
greater technical cooperation and economic collaboration between Romania
and Pakistan and observed that exchange of delegations representing the
students, intellectuals, journalists, Parliamentarians and businessmen
would greatly help in further strengthening and consolidating the
existing bilateral cooperation.
He made these observations while talking to a high level Romanian
delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Romania Mr. Bogdan Pascu
which called on him here Monday Deputy Chairman, Mir Jan Mohammad Khan
Jamali was also present. There was a unanimity of views on both sides
that there existed vast potential for enhancing cooperation between
Pakistan and Romania in fields like agriculture, construction industry,
information technology and energy.
The Senate Chairman recounted the Romanian visit of Pakistan
Parliamentary delegation last year and said that we were deeply
impressed by the rapid development that took place in Romania during a
short period of time. He suggested that besides collaboration in the
education and cultural fields there still existed vast scope for greater
collaboration in technical matters, exploration of oil fields and
information technology.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Romania informed the Senate Chairman that
the Romanian delegation had held very fruitful meetings with Pakistan
authorities and the member of the delegation were fully convinced that
there were lot of possibilities for further enhancing and strengthening
cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Bodgan Pascu further informed
the Senate Chairman that the business of real estate was one of the
flourishing businesses in Romania and that the two countries can benefit
from each other’s experience. The Deputy Prime Minister of Romania
further said that Romanian engineering industry is a major contributor
towards the economic growth of Romania. He agreed with the observation
of Senate Chairman that in Pakistan there is a strong potential and need
for investment and transfer of technology in the engineering sector.
Later, the Senate Chairman hosted a luncheon in honour of the Romanian
Deputy Prime Minister which was also attended by Deputy Chairman Senate,
Mr. Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali, Minister for Inter Provincial
Coordination, Mr. Salim Saifullah Khan, Senators, MNAs’ and people from
all walks of life. |
