Father of boy in Madonna’s custody weds

BLANTYRE—The biological father of the 13-month-old Malawian toddler that Madonna wants to adopt has remarried, a relative said Saturday.
Yohane Banda married Flora Kamanga on Friday in a civil ceremony in his Lipunga Village in the central border district of Mchinji, said his cousin, Gedion Zimba. “It was a colourful ceremony,” Zimba said. “We are happy for him.” Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, were granted interim custody of the boy, David, by a High Court judge last month.
Kamanga, 22, who has a 2-year-old child from a previous relationship, is three months pregnant with Banda’s child.
Banda, 32, was not immediately available for comment. In earlier interviews, he said that he met Kamanga, from nearby Noti Village, in April. “I was still mourning my wife but I thought it was high time I found a partner,” he said. Banda’s wife of 10 years, Marita, died last year of childbirth complications a week after giving birth to David. The couple had two other sons but they both died in infancy from malaria.
