New tax recovery system to be introduced: CBR

ISLAMABAD—Central Board of Revenue (CBR) would adopt the new tax recovery system in the next six months which would bring further improvement in its procedure for the recoveries.
Member Income Tax, Salman Nabi said that the chain of reforms would practically begin unfolding on the ground in the next six months, while with the setting up of the regional offices, the procedure for tax recoveries would get much better, Geo TV reported.
He said that 1.5 million income tax returns were filed in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, while this was the figure for the whole last fiscal year.
Salman said that the CBR had set the target for 20 percent enhancement and as against that 23 percent growth has already been achieved in three months only.
He added that CBR has settled all income tax refund cases up to October during current fiscal year.—Online
