Motorway police adopt measures to fight fog

ISLAMABAD—National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) has started adopting precautionary measures to avoid fog-related accidents, with the advent of the foggy season.
In the past fog was a major cause of fatal accidents on National Highways and on Motorways and numerous lives were lost.
In order to ensure a free, smooth and continuous flow of traffic, several principles have been set up which will be implemented in letter and spirit.
Inspector General NH&MP Ahmed Nasim has directed the NH&MP officers to start giving instructions to drivers, especially who drove commercial vehicles as usually they travelled on a daily basis.
He said right now visibility is 100 meters at night but it could reduce to 10 meters and even zero visibility in coming days.

The public service vehicles will not be allowed to enter on motorway unless they installed foggy lights on its front and rare sides. NH&MP officers will be stationed at all toll plazas, interchanges and entry points round the clock to intercept every vehicle and impart necessary briefing to its driver regarding safety measures and sped limit etc.
The officers have been directed to ensure that interior lights of the passenger service vehicles should be switched on for a clear view.
