‘Martyrs’ sacrifices not to go in vain’

ISLAMABAD—Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik has reiterated that Kashmiris’ unprecedented sacrifices for their just cause of liberation would not be allowed to go in vain.
He made the reiteration while addressing a large gathering of people at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Eidgah Srinagar today. Earlier, the JKLF organised Quran Khawani at its head office in Srinagar to commemorate the martyrdom one of the party’s founder members and prominent liberation activist, Abdul Hameed Sheikh.
He was martyred along with his eleven associates by Indian troops in Aali Kadal area of Srinagar on this day in 1992.
Kashmiri liberation leader, Javed Ahmed Mir addressing a similar gathering in Srinagar also paid rich tributes to Abdul Hameed Sheikh.
He urged India to respond positively to Pakistan proposals on Kashmir to help resolve Kashmir dispute amicably.
Meanwhile an Indian troop was killed and six others injured in an attack at Gundna area in Doda. Following the attack, the troops shot dead a civilian in an act of vengeance.

Another youth was martyred at Sunderbani in Rajouri district. Unidentified gunmen shot dead two persons at Nutnusa in Kupwara, PTV reported.
The body of an elderly woman was found in the premises of a Srinagar hospital. A man was burnt alive in a mysterious fire in his house at Khanwari in Srinagar.
A large number of people took to the streets in Barbarshah area in Srinagar to protest against attacks on liberation leaders and activists and increased human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.—APP
