Completion of
water projects to bring green revolution: Saifullah
ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Salim
Saifullah said that completion of mega water projects in the country and
especially in NWFP would bring green revolution.
Talking to APP here Sunday, the minister said government was pursuing an
extensive policy to execute the water projects in the earliest.
He said, government has adopted a very holistic approach and with the
complete consensus of the four provinces and it was giving concrete
shape to various water projects.
“On one hand it will supply abundant water for irrigation purposes while
on the other it will cater to the needs of power requirements of the
country,” he added.
Some have been completed while others are near completion which
guarantees prosperity and fast paced development, he added.
The minister said government has been focussing on the Southern
Districts of NWFP, which has vast natural water resources.
Kurram Tangi dam is a step in this direction which will turn the lot of
southern districts population, he said, adding government has very
kindly approved Rs 18 billion for it.
A briefing about the project will be held here at Ministry of Water and
Power on November 21 (Tuesday), which would be attended by Minister for
Interior Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Federal Minister for Political
Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam and the officials of the ministries
concerned, the minister informed.
Saifullah said, the multi-purpose dam would ensure availability of water
for the barren land in Lakki Marwat while the flat rate of electricity
to be fixed for tube wells to boost the agriculture sector. Saifullah

Likewise, other projects in different parts of NWFP will be completed in
the earlier with active involvement of Federal government, he said. |
