look into the matter.
Regarding talks with MMA and other opposition parties, the PML President

Hussain has said the ruling party would not contact Muttahida
Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in connection of their announcement of resignations
but in milieu of new women protection bill. He was talking to newsmen
after attending a ceremony arranged in connection of celebration of
passage of Women Protection Bill at PML House here on Friday.
The PML President said Women Protection Bill is in accordance with the
injunctions of Quran and Sunnah and MMA’s decision of resignation in
this regard was un-understandable. To a quarry, he said that some of
proposals given by the Ulema Committee were already included by the
Select Committee so those could not consider while the remaining were
incorporated. He denied the objections lay down by religious scholars
and said; “they were few who are criticizing on baseless grounds”.
He vowed to resign from National Assembly if anything in the Bill be
proved repugnant to injunctions of Islam laid down in Holy Quran and
Sunnah. The President PML said MMA must demonstrate political courage
and accept the decision of the NA taken by majority of members.
Earlier, addressing the ceremony, the PML President said there was
nothing contrary to Quran and Sunnah in the bill passed by National
Assembly on November 15 as no one could dare to make any change in the
Hadood laws.

rights of the women and eliminate the discrimination and injustice with
them. He said it is part of a series of legislation which is underway
and the process of emancipation, welfare and protection of women will
continue. The PML President said he had already announced in the
National Assembly that he would resign if any clause in the Women
Protection Bill was found against the injunctions of Quran and Sunnah. |
