NWFP PA calls for Dr Qadeer’s release
Bureau Report

PESHAWAR—The NWFP Assembly through unanimously resolution Friday expressed concern over detention of nuclear scientist Dr Qadeer Khan and demanded of the federal government to release him for proper medical treatment.
MMA lawmaker Shagufta Naz presenting the resolution in the provincial assembly, which met with speaker Bakht Jehan Khan in chair, expressed concern over the contradictory statements of his own wife and ISPR Chief Major General Shukat Sultan abut the health of great scientist Dr Qadeer. The resolution says the contradictory statement about the scientist health had raised concerns and demanded the federal government to withdraw the house arrest orders so that he could carry out his medical treatment accordingly.
The mover also underlined that being a national hero a number of people wanted to meet him so the government should lift ban on his public meetings so that all his wishers could meet him. As no opposition members opposed the resolution, therefore it was passed unanimously. The opposition members also staged a token walkout, when the government failed to address their reservation about corruption and mismanagement in reconstruction and rehabilitation process in five earthquake affected districts of the province. Provincial minister for Revenue and incharge Rehabilitation MaulanaAsmath Ullah who during Wednesday session had promised to brief the house about the reconstruction efforts was unable to sooth their worries.
