Pak committed to war on terror, says Sherpao

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan is fully committed to global war on terrorism and
attaches great importance to its relationship with the US, said Interior
Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao here on Friday.
“The relations between the two countries continued to grow over theyears,”
observed the minister while talking to a US delegation headed byMr.
Robert. S. Meuller, Director, FBI, USA who called on him.
Ch. Zafar Iqbal Warriach, Minister of State for Interior, Syed KamalShah,
Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Ch. Qamar Zaman, Additional Secretary,
Ministry of Interior, Tariq Pervaiz, Director General, FIA and Brig (retd)
Javaid Iqbal Cheema, Director General, National CrisisManagement Cell (NCMC)
were also present in the meeting.
The meeting held in a very cordial atmosphere in which issues of
mutualinterest were discussed. The Minister for Interior said that the
government and the people of Pakistan are grateful for the relief
assistance provided by US government in the wake of earthquake
inPakistan.
The prompt rescue and relief efforts by the US contingent were a great
help for the disaster stricken people of Pakistan. The Minister for
Interior said that Pakistan has come a long way in fighting the menace
of terrorism. Even before 9/11, Pakistan remained victim of terrorism in
one form or the other. He said that the 9/11 episode gave a new fillip
to this menace and henceterrorism emerged a major challenge to humanity
in this century. He saidthat Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its
forms and manifestation and it must not be equated with any faith or
religion.
He said that Pakistan has a very safe, secure and conducive environment
for foreign investment and lot of foreign investors and leading
companies are coming to invest in Pakistan.
The present Government of General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister
Shoukat Aziz has put the country on the way of progress and prosperity.
The head of US delegation Mr. Robert S. Meuller, Director, FBI, USA
appreciated Pakistan’s leading role in the war against terrorism and
hoped that the relationship between the two countries would further grow
in future. |
