PNCA, British Council ink MoU to promote culture

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and the British Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding here on Friday to promote cooperation in culture and training on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
The MoU was signed by Secretary Culture Jalil Abbas and British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mark Lyall Grant. Minister for Culture Dr GG Jamal and Director General PNCA were also present on the occasion to witness the signing ceremony.
The MoU envisages enhancing friendly relations between the two countries in the field of culture. The MoU would serve to further cultivate the ties between the people of two countries besides promoting the culture. The MoU became operational soon after the signing ceremony and would remainvalid for a period of three years. Upon expiry, it will be automatically renewed for further three years.
The MoU would encourage the exchange of cultural staff, scholars, researchers, experts and students on projects and programmes that will be of mutual benefit to the countries of both the institutions. Such exchange may involve cultural exchanges and research that may result in joint reports of publications or study visits.
It would also encourage the development of bilateral programmes betweeninstitutions of cultural excellence of a technical, vocational and culturalnature that would mutually benefit the countries of both institutions.
This would also facilitate the exchange of cultural literature, teaching and training materials, information and demonstration materials as well as the organization of relevant specialized exhibitions and seminars.
