Two killed in bomb blast

LAHORE—A powerful bomb exploded near a police station here at Ferozpura Friday, killing at least two civilians and wounding 13, five of them critically, police said.
Police said “terrorists” had planted a device in a dustbin at a bus stand which was close to a police rescue team’s office and around 500 metres (yards) from the Gaddafi cricket stadium. The dead included a vendor selling caps and glasses whose belongings were scattered across the road. The blast also damaged a rickshaw and shattered the windows of a parked bus. “It was a terrorist act,” city police chief Khalid Farooq said, adding that the bomb was fitted with a timer. Most of the casualties were among the passengers waiting at a bus stop, leaving a bench stained with blood.
In another attack one person was killed and two policemen injured when a bomb exploded on Friday morning in a restaurant on the outskirts of Peshawar. The inured cops were immediately shifted to hospital where on of them was serious, police said. The blast destroyed a police post near the restaurant and damaged windows of a police vehicle parked nearby.—Agencies
