ISLAMABAD—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will allot nine
commercial plots to private schools in five sectors of the federal
capital, a CDA official said Thursday.
The plots would be allotted in sectors H-9, H-11, I-8, I-14 and I-16
early next year, he said.
Two plots measuring 4.11 acres and 5 acres will be allotted in sector
H-9, two each measuring 1.72 acres in sector H-11, one of 0.35 acres in
sector I-8, two measuring 1.72 acres and 1.92 acres in sector I-14 and
two plots of 1.52 acres and 4.59 acres in I-16 sector. The plots will be
sold at 4,500 rupees per square yard and allotment wouldbe on 33-year
extendable lease, the official said.
The official said the Authority has evolved a new mechanism for
allotment of plots to private schools, which takes into account project
feasibility, number of students, funds, fee structure, status of
sponsors and functional period.
Any private educational institute applying for allotment of plot must
have affiliation with the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary
Education, he said.
The tax payment details would also be required from the applicants and
noallotment would be made to any institution which has already been
given a plot in the capital, the official said.
Private schools being run in the residential sectors is a violation of
the CDA rules, but the Authority does not want to stop them from
functioning at once because students might suffer, he said. The
Authority had allotted commercial plots in I-H sector last year forover
rupees 450 million to 23 private educational institutions operating in
residential areas.
The official said the institutions which are not in a position to
purchasecommercial plots due to high cost would be provided with an
opportunity topurchase 3.5-acre plots in Islamabad’s Zone IV which was
being developed on modern lines.
According to the master plan of Islamabad, sector H-11 has been
reservedfor educational institutions. The official said the Authority
plans to shift all the private schools from residential areas to
specific locations in next few years and allotment of plots was a part
of this policy.
There are over 200 private institutions in residential areas, mostly
housesin rented buildings where thousands of students were being
imparted education, he said.. |
