ISLAMABAD—“Islamabad Traffic Police has been working on Community
Policing which is the core factor in it’s successful performance since
the force’s initiation, a couple of months back”, said SSP Traffic
Sultan Azam Temuri. He further stated, “ITP’s success is not just the
success of a single department but is a step forward in country’s
progress at large and the day is not far when it would set an example
for the rest of the law enforcing agencies across country.”
SSP Temuri stated this while addressing a ceremony to announce the
formation of ITPCC; Islamabad Traffic Police Citizens’ Committee and
National Bank’s welfare project for ITP personnel, at the Traffic
Office, here this Thursday. ITPCC Chairman and committee members along
NBP Regional Manager Waqar Saeed and other distinguished representatives
of the bank, were present at the occasion. National Bank of Pakistan (NBP),
Islamabad provided 25 motorcycles to cops of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP)
for their personal use and to save them from transportation problems.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri at
ceremony of NBP and ITP joint welfare project on Thursday appreciated
the commitment of NBP for bringing a social uplift in the lives of cops
through providing easy loans.
It looks very odd when our policemen, after perfoming duties are asking
for a lift from the motorists, the SSP said and added that this facility
through NBP would save them from transportation problems.
Temuri said that ITP started project with NBP for welfare of
theiremployees four months ago. The bank is also providing loans to cops
for the purchase of household items, he added. The tickets of fine would
now be accepted by 23 NBP branches of Islamabad, the SSP said adding
negotiations are underway with NBP’s authorities to submit these fine
tickets within some branches of Rawalpindi.
The SSP said that NBP Islamabad has been requested to start one-window
service at four traffic fine collection booths and as a pilot project,
NBP would start its service in Zone-11 soon.
On the occasion, Regional Business Chief NBP Islamabad Region Khawar
Saeed appreciated the efforts of ITP in maintaining traffic discipline.
The road users consider themselves more safe now, he said and hoped
further improvement in the performance of force.
Khawar Saeed said NBP as Pakistan’s premier bank has achieved market
recognition through a repertoire of local and international awards. He
expressed commitment to continue cooperation with the ITP to bring
further uplift in the lives of its cops. |
