Senate body seeks briefing on Bajaur

ISLAMABAD—Functional Committee of the Senate on Human Rights has directed the Ministry of Defence to brief the Member Parliament on the facts concerning the Bajaur operation in detail so as to remove the reservations regarding the operation and ensure prevention of loss of civilian lives in future such operations.
The meeting of the functional committee held its meeting on Wednesday at the Parliament House. Headed by federal minister for law and justice S M Zafar the committee was given a detailed briefing by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense. S M Zafar told that the incident has claimed lives of many Pakistanis and that is why we have called the meeting taking notice of the situation.
This matter is of critical significance and the need of the hour is that the government gives a complete and transparent briefing. When the public will know the real situation than they will support the government measures. Secretary Interior Kamal Pasha and Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major Gen Shaukat Sultan gave a detailed briefing on the Bajaur operation.—Online
