‘ITP achieved
success through Community Policing’
By Uzma Zafar
ISLAMABAD—Islamabad Traffic Police; ITP has been endeavouring to raise
it’s image through practicing Community Policing and has met certain
success while at it as it has been keeping masses’ pride in helping
them, as the top priority. These views were expressed by the ITP
Education Team while briefing under training officers of Punjab Traffic
Police, through a lecture.
According to details, ITP Education Team delivered a lecture to 200
officers of Punjab Police, getting training for initiating model traffic
system within the big cities of the province, at Police Training Centre,
Sihala. During the lecture, the officers were briefed on ITP’s formation
and it’s successes. It was told that the success of ITP was solely due
to Community Policing. The need was voiced for educating masses on road
discipline.
It was mentioned during the lecture that instead of focusing attention
on penalties and challans, in order to maintain road discipline, the
traffic cops should in turn adopt positive attitude with the citizens,
making their help as their topmost priority and should fully co-operate
with the same.
ITP’s Education Team further stated that in order to raise the image and
the maintain the existing one, traffic cops have to adopt positive
attitude towards the masses so that no one’s self-esteem is hurt in any
way. In fact, all citizens should be treated with equal request and
given all possible help. In the end, the queries of under training
officers were attended to. |
