‘ITP achieved success through Community Policing’

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad Traffic Police; ITP has been endeavouring to raise it’s image through practicing Community Policing and has met certain success while at it as it has been keeping masses’ pride in helping them, as the top priority. These views were expressed by the ITP Education Team while briefing under training officers of Punjab Traffic Police, through a lecture.
According to details, ITP Education Team delivered a lecture to 200 officers of Punjab Police, getting training for initiating model traffic system within the big cities of the province, at Police Training Centre, Sihala. During the lecture, the officers were briefed on ITP’s formation and it’s successes. It was told that the success of ITP was solely due to Community Policing. The need was voiced for educating masses on road discipline.
It was mentioned during the lecture that instead of focusing attention on penalties and challans, in order to maintain road discipline, the traffic cops should in turn adopt positive attitude with the citizens, making their help as their topmost priority and should fully co-operate with the same.
ITP’s Education Team further stated that in order to raise the image and the maintain the existing one, traffic cops have to adopt positive attitude towards the masses so that no one’s self-esteem is hurt in any way. In fact, all citizens should be treated with equal request and given all possible help. In the end, the queries of under training officers were attended to.
