Nasir for improving working conditions of doctors, paramedics

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Health Muhammad Nasir Khan has said that government will ensure provision of better working conditions for doctors and paramedical staff in the hospitals.
Addressing the award distribution ceremony here in the Federal Government Services Hospitals (FGSH), the minister said the doctors and paramedics played an extra ordinary role after earthquake and set an example. He said due to their commitment to the profession they saved several lives. " Always remember that by saving one life you will be rewarded for saving the whole humanity."
The minister said soon after earthquake the ministry had sent 500 doctors to the quake-affected areas during first three days to help the survivors. He said besides people related to medical profession other concerned people and departments also played exemplary role and provided full assistance to the quake survivors.
Nasir Khan said the ministry had established a central coordination and monitoring cell in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) inpartnership with national and international partners soon after October 8earthquake to provide quick relief to the survivors.
He said in order to compensate for destroyed health infrastructure, field hospitals and camps were arranged with cooperation of international agencies and health professionals from all over the country and abroad. He appreciated the efforts of doctors and paramedics staff of FGSH after earthquake.
The minister said the hospitals in the federal capital joined hands with local administration and started work at Margalla Towers, adding first health teams were flown to the field within hours and FGSH remained in the fore front in this whole effort. Earlier, in a briefing the minister was informed that a total 1,888 earthquake survivors were attended in the FGSH hospital and for this purpose all basic medical arrangements were made.
He was informed that the hospital also provided blankets, pampers and quilts to the survivors besides medical assistance.
Later, the minister distributed awards among those who rendered extra ordinary services after October 8 earthquake. Secretary Health Syed Anwar Mehmood was also present on the occasion.
