US concerned over Pak, China nuke ties

WASHINGTON—The US has said it has concerns on nuclear “proliferation by Chinese entities to Pakistan” and President George W Bush could “reiterate” them during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao this weekend.
Bush will be meeting Hu on the sidelines of the Leaders’ Summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum to be held this weekend in Hanoi. “As far as China’s relationship with Pakistan is concerned, we have on many occasions spoken very clearly to the Chinese Government about our concerns about proliferation and proliferation by Chinese entities to Pakistan” a senior Bush administration official said at a background meeting at The Washington Foreign Press Center on Tuesday.
“So if the issue were to come up, I think that would be reiterated,” the official added. The President and the First Lady Laura Bush are leaving for the Leaders’ Summit in Hanoi Tuesday.—Agencies
