NEW DELHI—India’s External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is likely to travel to Islamabad next month and hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri.
A proposal is under discussion by the two governments in this regard, official sources were quoted as saying here today by Indian news agency - Press Trust of India.
Mukherjee’s visit will primarily be for extending an invitation to Pakistan’s President General Pervez Musharraf for the 14th SAARC Summit to be held in New Delhi on April 3-4.
However, the two sides want to utilize the occasion for having structured talks between the Foreign Ministers, added the report.
The countries are also working out the possibility of a meeting between the two foreign ministers in Delhi when Khurshid Kasuri travels here on a visit to attend the marriage ceremony of Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar’s daughter later this month.—Agencies
