Bajaur, Dargai in NA
Opp calls for strategy shift in
anti-terror war
ISLAMABAD—Opposition in the National Assembly has condemned the Bajour
and Dargai incidents and demanded the government to review its policy
against war on terror.
While the treasury members adopted the stand that all those who were
killed in Bajour were terrorist, however they viewed that the
negotiations should be adopted for the solution of current problems
confronting the country. Participating in the discussion on Bajour
incident Tuesday in the National Assembly, treasury member from FATA ,
Munir Orakzai has linked the Bajour incident with the expected peace
agreement in the area.
Condemning the Bajour incident, Munir Orakzai threatened that 12 members
of NA and Senate from FATA would resign if such actions would continue.
Naveed Qamar of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said the Bajour incident
has created hatred among people and army, adding that no government writ
exist in the area.
Defence Parliamentary Secretary, Major (retd), Tanveer Hussain Syed
while criticizing the opposition inappropriate behavior said that there
are sold evidence that terrorist training was being imparted in the
seminary. There would be no compromise on war on terror, he added.
Hafiz Hussain Ahmed of Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) said that the
country is facing a number of conspiracies, adding that different
statements from government created doubt among people. All the decisions
are being taken by one person, he added. Maulvi Sadiq of MMA while
participating in the discussion said that America is involved in Bajour
attack and demanded the formation of investigation commission to
investigate Bajour and Dargai incident. Treasury member MP Bhindara said
that Afghan people are fighting against the occupation forces in
Afghanistan, it is unfair to call them Taliban, he added. Abid Sher Ali
of Pakistan Muslim League - N opined that the government has failed to
protect is people, adding that the government’s polices has became the
federation week.
Maulana Mairaj Din of MMA on the occasion said that in case if 80 people
are getting training then why not had the army arrested them. Haider
Abbas Rizvi of Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded the immediate
investigation of Dargai incident, adding that the incident would promote
the bad image of the country internationally.
Bakhtiar Mani of MMA said that innocent children were killed in Bajour
and there is need of reviewing the current policy of the government.
Treasury member Farooq Asjad Syed said that we are not in favour of
killing of our own people, adding that consultation is the right way for
the solution of problems not force.
Hamid-ul-Haq of MMA said that USA is involved in Bajour incident, adding
that Pakistan should not take the responsibility of the incident.
Treasury member Mehnaz Rafi said that suicide training was being
imparted in Bajour seminary and alleged that MMA is trying to hide the
facts.
Zafar Ali Shah of PPP while condemning the Bajour incident demanded the
resignation of Gen Pervez Musharraf. Treasury member Ijaz Ahmed Ch said
that Bajour incident has become controversial and there is need to
unearth facts in this regard. Time has come to bring change in the
constitution and implementation of law in tribal areas like other parts
of the country, he added.—Online
